What We Do

Evaluations
Assessments can be administered in the areas of cognitive, academic, and speech and language. The purpose of assessment is to provide a differential diagnosis and to determine how a student learns best. Tools are also available to monitor the progress and effectiveness of interventions.

Tutoring
Individualized programming is provided to assist the student in learning skills and strategies to improve performance. The programs provided are tailored to the needs of the learner and are available in the areas of language, written language, literacy, organization, and math. Resources used include Lindamood-Bell material as well as resources from Educators Publishing Service and Cambium Learning.

Classes
Some students learn best in community with others. Courses are offered in the areas of reading, spelling, vocabulary, writing, social skills, and math. Class size is usually limited to 8 or less.

Writing Lab / Homework Lab
Guided assistance is provided in the areas of organization, planning, and editing of written work. Computers with internet access are provided. Assistance is also provided for homework support, including time management, setting goals, and strategy development.

Software Support
Students may come to the computer lab and use educational software programs designed to reinforce skill areas including language development, problem solving, math support, vocabulary, reading comprehension, social skills, and more. Various programs used include Lexia software, Merit Software, Visualizing and Verbalizing, Symphony Math, Team up with Timo, The Deciders, and more.

Teacher Training
Support and training is provided for teachers in the areas of brain-compatible teaching, education about disabilities and adaptations for classroom teachers, and problem solving difficult situations.

Parent Training
Support, education, and resources are provided for parents to better understand how to help their child and to know what questions to ask when meeting with professionals.

Speech/Language Therapy
Speech and language evaluations and therapy services are provided by ASHA-certified speech-language pathologists.

Advocacy Support
Qualified support is provided when assistance is needed to resolve disagreements between parents and school districts concerning special education services.
|

|
Consultation
Consultation services are provided for parents to discuss issues regarding the learner. Professionals can also observe the student in the classroom and provide consultative services to the student’s teacher regarding accommodations and adjustments to improve student outcomes.
